Through Emerge Education’s 4-week Linux Administrator certificate program, you’ll be qualified to sit for the CompTIA Linux+ exam.
A Linux administrator is a back-end IT specialist who installs, configures and maintains Linux operating systems. Job responsibilities may include installing and configuring Linux systems, including back-end databases and scripts, performing system maintenance by reviewing error logs, and creating system backups. They also monitor system performance to prevent slowdowns and crashes, provide technical support, and maintain system security.
In order to participate in this program, you’ll need a High School Diploma or GED and a web browser with an internet connection. It is also recommended that you have a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of IT security, 9 months of hands-on experience working with Linux servers in a related role, and CompTIA A+, Network+, and Server+ or similar certifications and/or knowledge.
Through this training, you’ll be able to:
- Summarize the purpose and use of security best practices in a Linux environment
- Build and install software and manage software configurations
- Configure and execute remote connectivity for system management
- Perform basic container operations and basic version control using Git
- Summarize common infrastructure as code technologies, container, cloud and orchestration concepts
- Analyze and troubleshoot network resource issues, CPU and memory issues, and user access and file permissions
