Through Emerge Education’s 20-week Medical Scribe and Administrative Professional certificate program, you’ll be qualified to sit for two different certifications, including the Apprentice Medical Scribe Professional (AMSP) credential through the American Healthcare Documentation Professionals Group (AHDPG) and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant Certification by the National Healthcareer Association.

Through the Medical Scribe and Administrative Professional career training, you will learn the combined skills of a medical scribe and medical administrative professional. This training equips students to work in a variety of healthcare settings. This gives you the versatility to accomplish many roles within the medical office. This training prepares you for transcribing for a physician or practitioner, handling phone calls, retrieving lab results, and other medical scribe tasks.

In order to participate in this program you’ll need a High School Diploma or GED and a web browser with internet connection.

Through this training, you’ll be able to:

• Gain knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and anatomy and physiology
• Comply with relevant laws and ethics, the Omnibus Rule, HIPAA, and HITECH
• Display strong attention to detail and accuracy with the use of electronic health records
• Discuss patient scheduling and understand related tasks for provider scheduling, intake procedures and preparation of records
• Understand laboratory testing and pharmacology applicable to EHR
• Explain how medical coding plays a role in and impacts the clinic workflow and revenue cycle
