Full course description
Through Emerge Education’s 18-week Physical Therapy Aide certificate program, you will be prepared to take the Physical Therapy Technician/Aide Certification (PTTC) exam and the Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam. Earning one of these national certifications demonstrates to future employers that you have mastered the skills and knowledge necessary to work successfully as a Physical Therapy Aide.
Physical Therapy Aides are responsible for directly supporting Physical Therapists, which includes assisting with patient exercises, documentation, and clerical responsibilities. Ideal candidates for this program are motivated, organized individuals who work well in a team setting, are detail-oriented and can multitask while delivering exceptional patient care.
In order to participate in this program, you’ll need:
- A High School Diploma or GED
- A web browser with internet connection
- Suitable vision & hearing (normal or corrected)
- Suitable psychomotor skills, hand-eye coordination, finger agility, and the ability to stand for an extended period of time
Some of the skills you will gain include:
- Understanding of patient preparation, including transfers and positioning
- Comprehension of appropriate exercises, as well as heat and cold modalities
- Knowledge and maintenance of PT equipment
- Identifying safety risks, policies, and procedures
- Performing administrative tasks and required documentation
