Through Emerge Education’s 18 week Surgical Technologist certificate program, you’ll be qualified to sit for the exam for Tech in Surgery - Certified (TS-C) certification by the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).

This program does not meet state licensing or regulatory requirements for Surgical Technicians in the following states: ID, IL, MA, NV, NY, SC, TN, TX, and VA.

A Surgical Technologist, also called an Operating Room Technician, prepares operating rooms and arranges the proper equipment for surgery. They work alongside doctors during surgery and prepare the patient for their surgery. They have the opportunity to interact with patients pre-surgery, during surgery, and post-surgery.

In order to participate in this program you’ll need:

  1. High School Diploma or GED
  2. Web browser with internet connection
  3. English language proficiency
  4. Employer/Clinical Sponsorship – Applicants to these programs MUST provide verification that an Employer or Clinical Site has agreed to accept the applicant in efforts to fulfill “surgical case” requirements required for Tech in Surgery (TS-C) certification before enrollment. With this Sponsorship, the student must be guaranteed to perform a minimum of required surgical cases completed and reported to NCCT within two (2) years of passing the TS-C exam.
  5. The MedCerts Student Clinical Site Information Form must be submitted to MedCerts prior to enrollment.

Through this training, you’ll be able to:

  • Maintain the sterilization of operating rooms
  • Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment
  • Assist in the operating room
  • Prepare specimens for analysis
