Clinical Medical Specialist

Through Emerge Education’s 32-week Clinical Medical Specialist certificate program, you’ll be qualified to sit for three different certification exams, including the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification, Certified Medical Administrative Assistant Certification, and the Certified Phlebotomy Technician Certification by the National Healthcareer Association.

In this program you will learn the combined skills of a phlebotomist and medical assistant, preparing yourself to stand out with clinical expertise. These specialists work alongside physicians assisting with minor procedures as well as interacting with patients.

In order to participate in this program, you’ll need a High School Diploma or GED and a Web browser with an internet connection. This program requires you to complete a minimum of 30 venipunctures and 10 capillary sticks on live individuals to sit for your certification exams.

Through this training, you’ll be able to:

• comply with HIPAA/HITECH, OSHA, CMS, and other healthcare regulations and laws as they apply to patient information
• handle laboratory specimens
• assemble and maintain equipment such as needles and specimen containers
• provide patient education
• collect blood and non-blood specimens for testing and analyzing in a clinical laboratory
• verify patients’ identities to ensure proper labeling of specimens and entry of information into a database
