Through Emerge Education’s 12-week Electronic Health Records and Reimbursement Specialist certificate program, you’ll be qualified to sit for the Certified Electronic Health Records Specialist, or CEHRS, credential through the National Healthcareer Association and the Medical Coder & Biller Certification, or MCBC, through the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA).

With the Electronic Health Records and Reimbursement Specialist career training, you’ll learn the skills needed to succeed. You’ll gain experience in handling patient data. An Electronic Health & Medical Records Specialist is able to work in a variety of settings, including, but not limited to, doctor’s offices, hospitals, laboratories, urgent care centers, nursing homes, and clinics.

In order to participate in this program you’ll need a High School Diploma or GED and web browser with internet connection.

Through this training, you’ll be able to: understand basic human anatomy and the terminology utilized in medical billing, identify and comply with HIPAA/HITECH, CMS and other healthcare regulations and laws, employ Electronic Health Record and related Practice Management applications, differentiate between CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS codes and know how to file a claim, and comprehend payment adjudication, various claim statuses, and the resubmission process.
